Anne McCaffrey

I first started reading Anne McCaffrey's books in junior highschool, nearly three decades ago. I started with the dragon rider series, then the Harpers of Pern, then Crystal Singer and on and on. Anne's characters really come to life. Her books are some that I can come back to over and over. There are very few that I would avoid, though some fall into that category (mostly the later books either co-written or ghost written with other authors). The majority of Anne McCaffrey's books promise a very good read. The books that I display below are my very favorite of her writings.

The Dragonriders of Pern

This is the first trilogy by Anne Mcaffrey introducing her world of Pern. She has written, in all, 20 books that take place on this planet. The Dragonriders of Pern trilogy includes, Dragonflight (published in 1968), Dragonquest (published in 1971) and The White Dragon (published in 1978)

Brain & Brawn Ship Series

Anne McCaffrey's Brain & Brawn Ship series is a fascinating look at how handicapped and crippled people may be adapted in a future far far away. She co-wrote some of these books with Margaret Ball, Mercedes Lackey, S.M. Stirling, and Jody Lynn Nye. I very much enjoyed these stories.

This series by Anne McCaffrey is an entertaining adventure of a student kidnapped by aliens and farmed to a primitive planet. How the survivors team together, relationships that develop, and the ultimate fight against the evil overlords makes a very good read. There is some graphic romance, so I give this an adult reader rating.
