John Flanagan
John Flanagan has earned his living as a writer all his working life, first in advertising, then as a successful television screen writer. In his spare time, he wrote books: thrillers, comedies and fantasies. He began the Ranger’s Apprentice series as a number of short chapters written for his 12 year old son Michael. Over the years, in between TV shows and corporate writing assignments, he developed the original 20 short stories into one book, then two, then eventually four.
The Ranger’s Apprentice series is being published by Random House in Australia and Penguin Books in the United States. It has recently been sold to Random House London.
John is now a full time author, currently working on Books 5 and 6 in the Rangers series as well as a novel set during the American Civil War.

The Ranger's Apprentice
10 years old and up
Grade 4-8. I found the first book in this series a very good read. There are likeable characters that show character growth throughout the book, heroes and villains and a lively plot. Purchase books in series by clicking on the cover.
